Starting a new series on the blog called You, Me & Coffee! Since I can’t get coffee in real life with every person who reads this blog, I’ll write about what I’d tell you if we grabbed a cup of jo together. You can join in the conversation in the comments! This might be a weekly thing, or just when I have something semi-interesting to share. K? K. Let’s do it.
I recently started learning calligraphy! I’ve always been curious to try, but I was really hesitant to pick it up at first. I feel like it’s something “everyone” is doing these days, and I didn’t want to be part of the trend. But my curiosity got the best of me and a few weeks ago I bought some supplies and dove in. As you can see, I’m still in practice mode! It has been fun re-training my hands to use a pen that only works in such specific ways. It’s very interesting, actually. Going back to doodle with a “regular” pen seems so easy! I’m really liking where this is going, and I even addressed all my Valentine’s with ink. (Yes, I sent Valentine’s this year )
If you don’t follow on Insta (which you should, all the good stuff happens over there) then I need to tell you about the Fun-A-Day community art project! 29 creative people in Boston made unique pieces of artwork each and every day in January. My project was a “Quote-A-Day”, where I would doodle a funny or interesting quote I overheard that day. I loved the project so much that I’m still doing it! My favorite part is that, even though it may seem a little creepy, it actually makes me more aware of my surrounds instead of being stuck in my phone all the time. Anyways, the Fun-A-Day art exhibit is hanging in Voltage Coffee + Art in Kendall Square until April 5th! If you like random/fun/wicked awesome collections of art, I’d highly recommend seeing the show!
Nate has been traveling for work for what feels like MONTHS, but really it’s been about 4 weeks so far, with 2 weeks left to go. It’s hard only seeing him on the weekends, but we’re savoring that time together! We love eating out (mostly because neither of us loves the cooking thing) and the last few weekends we’ve been to some great restaurants. The Rice Barn in Needham has amazing Thai food and while we were there, a pianist was serenading us the whole time! We also tried the Sherborn Inn in … duh, Sherborn. It’s on the route to my in-laws and every time we pass it, we say “Let’s go there sometime”. So I surprised Nate with reservations last Sunday and it was very good. The main highlight is that we ate escargot and I didn’t hate it
I should also mention that on Saturday I will be up at my wedding venue alma mater, the Woodbound Inn, sharing some of my work with their current couples! It’s going to be so surreal going back, I haven’t been there since August 12th, 2012!
So, anyways, what’s new with you?
